The Information Security Technology Department is a four-year undergraduate program under the School of Applied Sciences. The primary objective of the program is to educate qualified graduates who can meet the growing cybersecurity needs that have emerged alongside the rapid development and widespread use of information technologies and the increasing use of the internet.
The emergence of new technologies such as distributed computing, data storage, virtualization, and cloud computing as an integral part of life has made network, data, and application security indispensable at every scale. This process has accelerated the transformation of societies, led to the creation of a new global dimension referred to as “cyberspace,” and made security a vital element in public, private, and personal life.
The program includes courses in programming languages such as C, C++, Java, and Python; scripting languages such as JavaScript and PHP; computer networks; Oracle-compatible database systems; information security technologies; and cryptology. This enables students to improve both their theoretical knowledge and their practical skills in laboratory environments.
In conclusion, the Information Security Technology Department aims to train specialists who are competent in network, data, and application security, capable of detecting and countering cybersecurity threats, identifying system vulnerabilities, and developing improvement strategies to ensure information security.
