It consists of a survey of the organisation, functions and uses of the mass media, and their impact on life styles, images, standards, philosophies, government and business. Emphasis will be placed on the experienced environment.

Introductory course to computers and their application. Topics covered include hardware and software concepts, as well as consideration of the organisation and functioning of a computer system, along with office automation, databases, and various applications of computers. Practical sessions include DOS commands, word processing, and spreadsheets.
JRN101 Basic Journalism (3,0)3
The aim of this course is introducing to the profession of journalism. Topics covered are mainly focused on the historical and contemporary issues related to the newspaper industry and to print journalism generally.
PRP 100 Principles of Advertising (3,0)3
This course is an introduction to advertising and the creative abilities needed to be successful in this lucrative field. Through a series of assignments, students will develop concepts, write copy, design and present ads. Multiple pieces of portfolio quality work is the goal.
TURK 105 Turkish (3,0)3
In this course correct pronunciation of the Turkish sounds will be studied. Theoretical and practical studies would be carried out on types of communications aiming to convince and to inform the audience.

This course wills concentrates on English for academic purposes in order to assist students with their academic studies. In order to do this similar operations followed in their faculties will be practiced.

This course includes the development of mass communication and its history, the main factors that played role in the development of mass communication and the relationship between the history of communication and the history of humanity.
PRP 114 Interactive Multimedia (2,2)3
Conceptual, technical, and aesthetic proficiency in interactive multimedia is the goal of this course. The final requirement is to create an interactive CD-Rom as a group project. Continuing emphasis on theory and methods of interactive design.

This course covers the all steps of TV News production; from collecting news to real presentation of daily news on TV channels. The students learned how to collect, evaluate and present a daily issues of news.

Fundamentals of scriptwriting. Challenges of writing for the audiovisual media and developing scriptwriting competency.
TURK 104 Turkish Text Writing (3,0)3
A general introduction about text writing together with the rules of text writing will be studied. Practical studies will be carried out about the text used in the areas of TV, radio, newspapers and public relations.

This course includes the development of mass communication institutions and their structure today. The reasons and the results of institutionalisation, professionalisation and monopolisation among mass media. The influences of the institutionalised mass media on public life.

This course introduces students to the art of television and video production from preconceptualization process through to the postproduction process for video presentations. The course covers conceptualisation, storyboarding, microphone techniques, interviewing and recording ambient sound, diegetic and nondiegetic sound, story construction, shooting for postproduction editing, basic editing techniques, and the function of lighting in video production.
TVE 205 Editing (3,0)3
This course covers all types of editing for TV and Cinema. Students should learned analog and non-linear editing techniques in order to be a film maker. It is a basic course for a film maker to be a master of his profession.
HIST 102 History of Civilization (3,0)3
A survey of the origins and development of Western Civilization during the ancient and medieval periods, in which the history of Cyprus and its surrounds will figure prominently. Stress is placed on the social, economic, and political aspects, but it also covers cultural and technical elements and their inter-relationships. Includes field trips.

This course is going to be the simulation of constructing promotions with an emphasis on public relations. After a real-like brief the students simulating a public relations agency will do a public relations strategy.

History of the construction of the Turkish Republic under the light of Kemal Atatürk's principles. This course is designed for Turkish speaking students.
