Horticultural Production & Marketing - General Information
The purpose of the degree programs is to offer a course of study leading to a recognized degree in preparation for a variety of professions in agri- and horticulture. It aims to educate students to serve as extension and production specialist, marketing specialist in horticulture and food sectors as well as specialist in horticultural engineering with a strong emphasis on greenhouse, and subtropical and semi-arid crop production.
The job market is great ! Horticulture graduates are in demand as : Researchers and scientists, Landscape professionals, Horticulture educators, Greenhouse managers, Orchard or vineyard managers, Crop protection specialists, Nursery managers, and International consultants.
A major in Horticultural Production and Marketing gains a broad backgraound in all facets of these diverse fields. After mastering the fundamentals, our students receive specialization through advisor-directed electives. Thus, students acquire in-depth knowledge in the production, utilization of plants, plan physiology, in integrated pest management, irrigation, fertilization, and business. From biology to engineering, from genetics to economics, from nutrition to sociology, our students are exposed to the lates research and technology, and also learn to use that knowledge to help people solve problems and apply their knowledge to the real-world challenges.
