International scientific research projects which were executed by Özge Özden from the Faculty of Agricultural Sciences and Technologies and Dr. Dave Hodgson from the School of Biosciences, University of Exeter were completed. The Project was executed under the heading of “Effects of Different Management Techniques Applied in Olive Tree Groves on the Biological Diversity” Özge Özden who is an entomologist working at EUL as an academician stated that the Project results and statistical analysis were reported and the Project was presented to an A-class citation index journal to be published. Özden stated that 12,387 insects were examined within the scope of the Project and less insects were found in the groves in which the pesticides were used and added that use of pesticides was harmful to the biological diversity. Özden attracted attention to the fact that selective pesticides and use of insect traps reduced the harm to the biological diversity in fight against pests and she stated that covering leguminous seeds could be planted instead of ploughing so often for weed control in olive tree groves. Özden thanked the supporting EU Welfare Fund, European University of Lefke, University of Exeter and olive tree groves owners in Lapta region.
